Song Meanings

The lyrics that we put in our songs all hold a lot of meaning to us and have had much thought put into them. But unfortunately the opinions and ideas cant be fully summed up in a single song, so here are some deeper explanations of things that we say through our music, Mike.

American Anthem

The first thing to take into consideration is the chorus; "Take down the American dream". This is not talking about the original American dream. Instead it talks about a revised American dream. It has been amended by George Bush and the current Republican government. It still holds the same target of freedom, but now has been made impossible. After the tragedies of September 11th George Bush applied a new law named the USA PATRIOT act (Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism act). But this act is far from the patriotism and the ideals of the land of the free as Baroness Thatcher is liberal. In total this act disregards any confidentiality and restricts the freedom of any American or persons in America who is suspected to be a 'Terrorist'. Many people from charity workers and judges have been stopped on borders, state lines, in their places of work and even in their own homes under the suspicion of opposing the ideology of the United States. And if anybody has a problem with what is going on, it is said that the public can read it but unless you have a team of lawyers with you it is far from a bed time story! Questions are asked such as whether these people are linked with Al Qaeda or whether they know the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden. This questioning would be acceptable with a sufficient lead, but this rarely exists. It is even worse considering the George Bush permitted the whole bin Laden family to fly out of the USA days after September 11th while there was a ban on aircraft travel across the nation. So after George Bush accused Osama bin Laden of this act of terrorism he didn't feel like asking his direct family any questions but feel that members of his own family might know something. The government now has access to anything they want from their citizens and they need no good reason to do it.

This song focuses on the country that the current Republican party is turning the USA into and it's not a pretty sight.

Now I love America, how cant you? It's the land of the big, the land of dreams, it is the Land of the Free. But it is being run by a minority of conservative cheats and there is a blanket which inspires a bad mentality and a bad image for the people of America. This song is meant to highlight what is going on, the injustice which the government is laying down and most importantly for us not all to judge the people of this country the same way as we do the people that rule it.
